Well here it is, a sweltering Thursday evening in the jolly ol' state of Arkansas.;the sun is still shining and the ice cream man went by a few hous ago.
I've been in school for a week so far, suffering under the onset of either extreme boredom or healthy disdain. My Biology course is strangely reminscent of grade 9 science, and my geometry class reminds me of grade 5. How, you ask? Well today we learned how to use protractors.
I can see that you are stunned into silence.
We also learned that if an angle is divided into 2 angles, the sum of the two interior angles will equal the measure of the total angle. And the truly sad thing is that many of my wonderful classmates did not understand this concept. Suffice to say, among the protractor lessons, leranig how to remember what an acute angle was, and algebra review, I succesfully completed all my homework, 5 worksheets, reviewed for my APUSH test, and read a rather large section of Kushiel's Dart. I continue to wonder why I did not take the registrar's comment of "take the end of course exam so we can see how good you are at geometry and we might be able to give you the credit."
I try not to make bad decisions, but that was defiently one I should have avoided. Instead, I am trapped in the class until June. GiD help me....
Today in seminar we had the senior assembly, which was basically an hour of Mr. S going over dress code, academic integrity, expectations, discipline, and footbal and the pageant. It was an hour and a half.
However, after the assemby school ended so I ran down to the studio to check the cast list for "Adrift in New York", the fall play. Both Chris and I auditioned yesterday and WE BOTH GOT PARTS!!!!! They are not extremely large but they are most definetley not a walk-on part. Chris is Dan Fogerty, the owner of a honkeytonk bar in New York, and I play Sadie May, performer at his bar and the villain's 4th wife. I haven't read her part exstensively but I believe she is a sort of "workin' girl". Hayleigh brought to my attention the fact that in a way, he is my "pimp". Interesting... Rehearsals start tomorrow and the show is Homecoming weekend.
We also found out the date of our graduation- May 21, 2005 at 9am. YEEE-HAH! If I don't have to take any semester tests, my last day of school is may 12? But i think i may have a few but I should be done by may 15. In plenty of time for North, I might add.....
In APUSh today I had my test on all the POTUS. I studied so long for that- memorizing all of them and the years of their term, but in the end he gave us 6 questions, each wwith 4 names and 1 blank and then we had to fill in the blank with the corresponding POTUS. And then there were four questions like, "Who came right before Lincoln?", "who was the 39th POTUS?", "Which POTUS served 2 non-consecutive terms?" and one other.
I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO KNOW THE DATES!!! Ah well, I defiently aced it.
I just remembered I have an essay due tommorrow.
shit.
