I don't think I've ever experienced such bone deep burned out-ness. Seriously, it is taking some effort to get out of bed every morning, to go to class, to work, to the gym. I think I need a few weeks to do absolutely nothing. With only 3 weeks of class left in my undergrad career (consisting of 3 papers and 2 finals) that should end a stressful period. Then there's grad banquet on the 17th, and my last exam on May 6th followed by 3 weeks in Europe. I should be looking forward to all of this, but am just too freaking tired. The sleeping meds I take knocked me out for 10 hours last night, which should have helped, but I'm still tired. And REALLY not wanting to write this 6000 word essay for my City and the Body in Mod Jap Lit class. But I will.

Also good news is the fact that the parentals are off to Hawaii for two weeks and so I iwll be at home dogsitting. Maybe I just need to get out of rez, cook for myself (and not get sick off of Burwash's mega carbs).

Job interview last week went really well, so there is a possibility I may be employed in September. Otherwise, hey, I will inspect citrus in the warehouse or be a produce spy for a while.

Until Graduation:

5 Weeks of Class
4 Essays
2 Finals

And then the day after my last exam, I hop on the morning flight to Rome and spend three weeks in Europe.

The itinerary is: Rome, Florence, Venice, Munich, Brussels, Bruges, Antwerpen, Ypres.

I am ready for food, beer, and shopping. Also, first time doing hostels so it should be an experience.

Can I go now?

Gratitude for Today

1) Large beds to sleep in, so unlike university twin size mattresses

2) Snow. Lots and lots of snow, in which to frollic with the dogs.

3) Gingerbread and spiked eggnog. Also enjoyable in snow.

4) Being truly Canadian, and keeping your newly bought beer in a snowbank.

Seriously, so much snow. Lake Ontario looked like something out of the apocalyspe- was watching from Mom and Dad's balcony and the whitecaps and waves were reaching ten feet high.

Wow. Really feels like Christmas now. I think wearing a red apron helps.

Gratitude For Today:

1) being able to decorate the xmas tree with your mom

2) knowing that a family friend was in a car accident, crawled through fire to get out of the car, thus burning his legs and side BUT despite the numerous skin grafts he is alive.

3) knowing that your mom has the same sense of humor for today

4) that relatives only visit once in a while and you only have time to do dinner. shame.

5) that despite your not knowing them well, your cousins can do brilliant things

6) that the one employee can't stand showed up for work. wouldn't have wanted him to be late after all, since that would mean he would be fired. Lucky me.

Gratitude for Today

1) Homemade choco chip cookies that your mommy brings you b/c she loves you.

2) Freshly laundered laundry done at home, so you don't have to pay for it

3) Getting a 3,000 word paper written, when you are really not a paper person, and finishing in enough time to have 4 hours to edit.

4) a mouse man coming (depsite his coming early inthe morning and waking you up at 9, when you went to bed at 4) to put a trap in your room in the hopes it will dissuade the mouse that was in your room last week

5) a don who will investigate your mouse sighting at 8 in the morning after you just woke him up and he strides powerfully in your room only wearing his boxers and you cower on the floor. Thank you, Rob.

After 2pm today only my midterm on Monday left. The rest of today and tomorrow will be spent vegetating, doing some xmas shopping, and meeting people for grad banquet venue decisions. Yay!

Gratitude for Today

1) comfy new sweatshirts before you wash them and then get all nibby

2) public libraries with a large, previously undiscovered paperback section which you plumb, even though you know you have a midterm and several essays due

3) having a computer upon which you can share the mundane things that happened in your day with your mom over MSN, which you never did when you lived in different countries but do now frequently, now that she is 30 mins away. Then again, she didn't have a computer before

4) hot chocolate that your brother makes

So tomorrow I leave for day one of my slightly-less-than-a-week long trip to the maritimes. On the itinerary is New Brunswick and PEI and all the spots we grew up in as well as some touristy stuff. I just made reservations for us on a lobster boat where we will get to catch and cook our own lobster while on the water just off of PEI.

Hellz yeah.
