total volume of music files on my computer: 1.23 GB (504 files)

the last cd i bought was: "42nd Street" Original Broadway Soundtrack (Actually, Dad bought it for me, does that count?)

song playing right now: Great Big Sea "The Night that Pat Murphy Died"

five songs i listen to that mean a lot to me:

1."Bui Doi" - Miss Saigon, by Schomberg and Boublil. This has got to be one of my favorite songs in this musical. The lyrics are incredibly moving- especially the choral part at the beginning. It almost brings a tear to my eye because of the frustration, regret, and sorrow that it emotes. You have to remember the children when this song is played because they are seen through the music.

2. "Lily's Eyes", The Secret Garden, by Lucy Simon. Yes, another song from a musical. The reason this song is so important to me is because it is the song that JR and Ryan won 1st place at State with. Whenever we heard this song at least 4 of us would be in tears. Besides the fact that it is such an amazing song, the cameraderie that I remember when this song plays is wonderful. At state, I think we all felt a little proud when the guys won, like we were involved somehow.

3. "Glory", The Ciivil War, by Frank 'Wildhorn'. Oh God, another musical... This song was such a rush to perform. It has great lyrics, great music, and we all put our strength into it at State. Then, we cannot forget Ryan's interpretive dancing! It's just a song that reminds me of all my fellow Thespians and that weekend we spent in Alma.

4. "When I'm Up, I Can't Get Down", Great Big Sea. How could anybody not love this song! It reminds me of living on the east coast and (even though I'm not a Newfie) my Maritimer roots. To me, this is the quintessential Maritimer song- getting up, moving on, all to the tune of guitars and washboards. Roch Voisine should be in here too....

5. "I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts", Monty Python. This song is in my mind because just last week when my grandparents were here and my granddad was finally released from the hospital, I went in to sit with him. Then we were on the patio with my laptop and Chris played "coconuts". We all started singing, Grampy too, and laughed a bit. This was the first and last time that Grampy would be here so we had a good memory.
