There comes a time that whenever i hear the words "wal-mart", i just want to scream. I think it has something to do with the frequency with which we visit the hallowed hall of capitalism, said frequency usually reaching 4x/week in the summer.
Why, for the love of God, why?
Mom sent me there this afternoon to get butcher's twine so we could tie our rotisserie chicken together. Dad, being the perfectionist he is, just couldn't let the wings hang down. So off I went, just when I was about to get in the pool, to 'Wally World' in search of the elusive twine. No matter that I had no idea where to get it (Mom thought maybe the hardware dept), apparently I make Mom think I can find anything there.. Last time she sent me on an impossible task was to find sterno for the chafing dishes when we threw dad's office staff an alcohol drenched bash (or maybe I was the only person alcohol drenched- that sangria was mighty tasty!)- Where the fuck do you find sterno? Most of the people I asked didn't even know what it was and I eventually found it with the camping supplies. Today, the meat counter people didn't even know what butcher's twine was (Hello? String you use to tie meat together?) so I eventually went to the rope section, conjecturing that twine is thin rope. Now, they didn't havebutcher's twine but they did have cotton string so I said screw the special stuff and got this instead. After 45mins of searching, I finally found stuff that was worthy enough to die our dead bird with, thank the lord.
We just finished dinner with Shane and Sherry- I had too much margarita and a beer and too much dessert.
Lat night I babysat a 7 and a 5 year old as well as 7month old twin girls. It has been a few years since I have been around babies, and never twins, so trying to remember the neverending cycle of diaper changing, rocking, feeding bottles, burping, rocking, etc was a tad overwhelming. Especially when, after 20 mins of rocking you finally get one fo them to sleep only to have the other one wake up. I think I can safely say that it will be several years before I have children. At least a decade.
Also yesterday we had small rainstorm, lost power for two hours, had a massive thunder storm, were under a tornado watch, and saw lots of debris. When I was out this morning I saw that a neighbouring subdivision lost a large section of its fence, our friends across the street lost their fence. 'I' Street has ahuge amount of broken trees and fallen power lines. We spent the majority of the storm on the back porch, drinking wine, listening to the radio, reading by candlelight, and having a surpising view of Chris' 'full moon', if you know what I mean. I didn't hear of any twisters actually touching down, so that is something.
This is my second tornado situation, and I always hope it will be my last.
That is all.
