Damn I love this movie.
I was kinda iffy in the first 10 or 15 mins- the dialogue was really starting to kind of grate on me in that how-do-we-turn-written-lines-into-speech-i-don't-quite-know sort of way (especially when Yvaine and Tristan first meet, the dialogue was kinda irritating), but after that I just took the movie as it was- funny and romantic and farcical and just plain amusing.
Did I mind the changes from the books? Not really, because the movie had the same impact on me as the book did. I did enjoy how they made Capt Shakepseare's part bigger (De Niro = le boss), and Tristan's hair after his makeover was le sexy face. Michelle Pfeiffer was a lot of fun (especially when she goes all bitchy on their asses after shedding a few tears before breaking a lot of glass). The only character I couldn't really get a hold on was Victoria. She was manipulative, sweet, materialistic, thoughful. I got really confused by her b/c i found her motivation often very muddled.
But De Niro in drag dancing around? His crew always knowing he was a (what did they call him) Floopsie? The 7 brothers bickering? Primus ending up forever nude and Rupert Everett with a smushed face? And there were ferrets. Damn killers they were.
But i loved it, want to see it again, aka I will download it.
Then Chris and I went and got canadian tattoos, mine of which hurt like nothing else but am extremely happy with how it came out.
Chris', on his left arm.
