O-Week has been over for a couple of days now though I have yet to descend into full-out academic mode. Frosh week was absolutely exhausting, more so than usual, so I did feel relieved when I didn't have to be up early and to bed late every day and uber genki all the time. However, I was extremely honored to have been voted the female super leader by my fellow orange warriors. The week was further capped off with my group 5 being crowned super group as a result of all the spirit monies our awesome frosh collected.Suffice to say, the people I worked with just hit the week out of the park.

During the week I also had to take some time off to go see Komuro for my japanese placement interview. Even though I studied abroad, I had expected to be put into 3rd year, but to my surprise, Komuro placed me in 4th year. As I never thought I would make it past third year japanese, much less enroll in 460, I was very happy. The problem with being at such a level is that many of us come from Japanese backgrounds. Some have studied abroad or at other universities or are self-study people, so there will be times when the course will be extremely challenging and other times it will be slightly less murderous.

Other than japanese, I have only had one other course thus far. My week is only 13 hours of class every other week (12 hours without a tutorial) with about 22-ish hours of work each week. Monday night I had Modern East Asia which, after having one lecture and perusing the syllabus, looks like a lot of fun. The prof is hilarious, well-spoken, and has picked a variety of engaging topics for lectures. Hopefully this course will continue to be good!

VCDS is in full swing with our general meeting having occurred tonight. A nice number showed up and we had some truly interested people hang around afterwards to chat and ask questions. Next on the agenda= play selection, exec meetings and mandate review, and production meeting. Joy?

The new puppy has arrived in AR! Mom and Dad have sent photos and mom has detailed the many bowel movements of Bailey but thus far she seems to be working out and she and Shiraz appear to be getting along. I can't believe I have to wait until Xmas to see her....

Right now I am sitting in my stylish dorm room enjoying a cooling cup of tea and some Hide. Alas! tomorrow i actually have to wake up before noon tomorrow for class: History of Early Modern Spain- hope it is interesting!
