First final of 4 this week is now in t-minus.....8 hours
plenty of time to study, right? usually, yes, but since this prof never said much of anything all year and is asking questions about stuff we didn't cover, I am slightly worried. Luckily, wikipedia has come in to help fill in the blanks.
So, good news for all: MRI results came in, and all is well! No arthritis, no torn cartilage, and no need for surgery! Of course, this means they still don't know what is wrong, but they have started me on a variety of different therapies that will hopefully make a difference. I go to regular physio with Amy, who also works some electrode therapy on me (aka I am wired and hooked up to a giant box that stimulates muscle movements in an effort to calm irritation in the joint), and then I started massage therapy with Frank, which isn't as cool as it sounds, since it is a lot of range of movement exercises and massage that is geared more towards changing my muscles around than making me feel relaxed.
These results, my promotion at work and my pay raise all made for a very happy Nikki, so I hit Bloor St for some retail therapy, and gave in to the clothing giant that is Lululemon. Great store, amazing clothes, BUT UBER EXPENSIVE. I may not be able to later justify to myself the purchase of an $80 pair of cropped sweatpants, but I felt rather good yesterday. And besides, the pants are amazingly comfortable. Then there was a new dress and new shoes for the end-of-year club night this week, and my own version of that dress from American Apparel that can be made into 16 or so outfits. I borrowed Iz's last week for a party and liked it so much I had to have my own. And then I invited Ali over for dinner and I made salad of baby lettuces with shredded cheese, pecans, strawberries, oranges, and poppy seed dressing with grilled chicken on top, and pound cake with orange, nectarine, kiwi, and strawberry with vanilla yogurt and frozen yogurt on top. Then we topped it off with a bottle of white wine. Much giggling ensued, as well as some fun conversation, seeing as we both needed to de-stress because of exam hell.
I am feeling pretty healthy- trying to go to the gym more (spend 2 hours there the other day), and working more diligently on my physio. Apparently people think my stomach is now very flat. This I appreciate, but do not believe. Thus, am continuing to work on it.
Only two weeks left in rez- all my exams are this week but the Dean's office said I can stay through the end of study week, which is earlier than I wanted, but I may just stay downtown for a couple of weeks with a friend so I can still work.
Just because this week is all my finals and I will be officially done 3rd year does not mean that i am done. oh no, far from it! Everyone else's study week is my: O-week exec meetings, new leader day, Crescam awards, Workshops, Steering Committee Meetings, and the Vic Drama end of year party and awards ceremony.
Yay!
