One of my favorite movies. Ever. Just got back from seeing RENT with Alison and I have to say that it is one of the best $12.00 I have ever spent (I won't get into how expensive movie theatres are nowadays...). The acting was good, the music beautiful, and the sets were so cool. I must admit that it didn't flow as smoothly as the play might- seemed a bit choppy moving from scene to song and so forth. The script and songs were changed a bit for the movie which for someone like me who knows all the songs was a bit weird, but I loved it. I really liked how they had that bit in there during "One Song Glory"about April and Roger before she died. Collins and Angel were so cute! Maureen has always gotten a little bit on my nerves so it was interesting to see her on screen. I was surprised with how much I liked Rosario Dawson as Mimi- I don't like Mimi all that much in the show, but in the movie she was quite good. I will be the first to admit that I cried a lot during this movie- when Angel starts getting sick and then when she dies I kept choking. My face still feels puffy. The emotion at her funeral is amazing. Whew. Overall, an excellent movie which DVD I must have. As soon as it comes out.
I leave you now with lyrics from RENT:
525,600 minutes, 525,000 moments so dear. 525,600 minutes - how do you measure, measure a year? In daylights, in sunsets, in midnights, in cups of coffee. In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife. In 525,600 minutes - how do you measure a year in the life?
How about love? How about love? How about love? Measure in love. Seasons of love.
525,600 minutes! 525,000 journeys to plan. 525,600 minutes - how can you measure the life of a woman or man?
In truths that she learned, or in times that he cried. In bridges he burned, or the way that she died.
It's time now to sing out, tho the story never ends let's celebrate remember a year in the life of friends. Rememberthe love! Remember the love! Remember the love!
Measure in love. Seasons of love! Seasons of love.
-Seasons of Love
