So after months of random disuse and the like I found myself sitting in front of my computer (coincidentally, not writing my religion paper or doing my astro assignment) fooling around with very simplistic layouts. I kind of like this one- reminds me of summer and margaritas.

The Variety Show, as well as my theatre season, is over. I am simultaneously jumping for joy and crying. This does mean that I will get to be a quasi normal student for the next 5 weeks or so before I spend a very short while in Arkansas before being thrown overseas and landing somewhere in Tokyo. Possibly still alive. But no theatre season? It has been so long where I haven't been able to have free weeknights or weekends that I kinda forget what they are like. No responsibility? What is that about? No lighting cues to design, crew to staff, people to yell at? I don't think I remember what this is. Which is why I find myself in my room, listening to the Bowie, drinking coffee, typing and procrastinating. And I must say it is also odd to no longer have drums in my room.

But just because theatre season is finished for me doesn't mean that the stress has melted away. True, I am more relaxed. but that could be because of the drugs. One week of extreme sickness finished with a visit to the hospital, another week of weakness where I had no stamina due to aforementioned illness and could barely walk, a weekend of variety show, highball, st. paddy's and work has left me wanting a vacation. But I feel as though it is manageable, now. Not so hopeless.

This might not have been the case had I decided to run for VUSAC. The weird thing is that I had never really considered it. Although I am floor president (a rather inactive one, i think, sadly) I never considered running for a position. But now that several different people have mentioned it, it may be something I consider for next year, maybe as an MAL.

The Variety show post celebration was quite wonderful- lots of alochol and the first in a very long time for the very sick me, but so worth it. And then to not have to work the next day? I slept in for Highball, went to the library. ran some errands, did my hair and make-up in under half an hour and then headed over to Ali's for champagne and umeshu. Maria and Alison, my favorite people, were uber pretty and thus i felt bad.

And bitter. ......... Much fun was had by all- great venue, great music (loved the house and techno, DJ was a bit weird though) and while the food was amazing our table had the unfortunate distinction of being the very LAST to be served. Literally, half an hour to 45 mins between courses and over an hour for dessert. It was a great night that sadly ended at 11:30 when I began to have trouble breathing and coughing a lot. I had some water, didn't help, and then my hands and feet began to itch. I thought I was making too much of it until Anja came and looked at me and then ran and got Tan and Gill (res life and campus life coordinators, whom i adore- recently married Gill wore her wedding dress). They went to the drugstore across the street, but it was closed so we got into Tan's car and drove to shoppers. It was at this point that I was in pain from all the itchiness and i looked in the mirror to see my eyes all swellled up. We got the Benadryl, drove back to the venue, grabbed my stuff (in the mirror by the coatcheck was the 1st time i saw myself in full light- i nearly cried) and drove me home. Definitely woke mom up at midnight her time to cry. It wasn't until yesterday that the swelling went down.
(swollen face....*sad face*)

St Paddy's day was uneventful except for my burwash trip in which i wore sunglasses to hide my face. Such a tool. And then I was in bed by 11pm b/c i had to get up at 6 to go to work. But i really didn't mind not going out. I was tired and not in the mood to deal with drunk people. I read a book, went to bed early, all was well.

And tomorrow is MEATLOAF!! Me, Mike, and Tom are heading down to Hamilton to take in the show and squee over his epic-ness.

dude, that's really creepy - my eye did the same thing last week! i was just sitting in tiff's room chillin', and all of a sudden my eye was swollen so bad i couldn't see out of it!

i feel your pain, man. but no worries! it's nothing that a horse pill of antihistamine won't cure.
